How to treat your guides decoys… Dos and Don’ts…
Sometimes we just have to use visual aids to describe certain things. Here at Redhead Guide Service we take pride in our hard work and vigilance in assuring our clients get to see as many birds as possible over the rig.
Obviously scouting, scouting and even more scouting makes this possible. A large component after the scouting is done is to the spread of decoys and hide the blinds in such a way that the birds want to come join us. For this task we have amassed different decoy combinations that we have found to be good to us over the years. To that end some are no longer available and are treasured tools in our bag.
On a trip last month we experienced “one of those days”, sometimes the excitement just gets the best of one of our clients.
Below is a photo of a Dear friend and client Mike P.
Next to him is one of our original “Real Geese” decoys that we have had in the rig for almost 20 years. Below is what happens when one becomes a bit too excited to dispatch a cripple in the rig.

Moral of the story. Please be kind to the decoys… They work hard for you. Mike, yes that Black Cloud really does do wonders, next time on the real ones PLEASE…
